Demand Increases, New 5 Star Hotel Arrives in Balikpapan

BALIKPAPAN, KOMPAS.com – The city of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), will add to its collection of five-star hotels in the near future.

Chairman of BPD PHRI Kaltim Sahmal Rukip revealed this to Kompas.comThursday (25/1/2024).

“The exact location of this hotel is in North Balikpapan District,” said Sahmal.

Along with the development of the Indonesian capital city (IKN), the demand for rooms and facilities meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibition (MICE) continues to increase.

This increase in demand cannot be met by existing hotels. Likewise with the MICE rooms which are always full.

“In Balikpapan now, when there are lots of events, there is still a shortage of hotels and MICE facilities,” he said.

Therefore, Sahmal welcomes the presence of this new hotel which is equipped with representative MICE facilities.

Nusantara Convention Center

From search Kompas.com, the five-star hotel project in question is the Nusantara Convention Center (NCC) which is located on Jalan MT. Haryono KM 4.5, Batu Ampar Village, North Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province.

This development area covers an area of ​​3.5 hectares, with land status clean and clear. a distance of ± 8.5 kilometers with a travel time of 15 minutes to Sepinggan Airport, while to the Central Nusantara Capital Government Area (IKN) a distance of ± 57 kilometers with a travel time of 45 minutes (via the Balang Island Bridge).

Balikpapan City is one of the business destination cities in East Kalimantan with the support of 21 star hotels which have Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) facilities.

As an IKN partner region, Balikpapan City is a supporter and is part of the ecosystem super hub IKN economy.

Balikpapan in RTRWN Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 13 of 2017 is designated as the Balikpapan-Tenggarong-Samarinda-Bontang National Activity Center (PKN).

The existence of NCC in Balikpapan City has good prospects, because it is in an area that is supported by a tourism ecosystem and is a National Tourism Destination (DPN) and National Tourism Development Area (KPPN).

NCC has development plans in the form of MICE facilities including 32 meeting rooms, 14 conference rooms, 4 ballrooms, 1 exhibition hall, 1 inner court (outdoor), and 1 roof park.

Meanwhile, hotel facilities have a total of 349 rooms consisting of 224 superior, 112 deluxe, 12 junior suites and 1 presidential suite.

A total of 53 venues with various spaces, as well as various other supporting facilities. Making the NCC Project one of the projects that supports the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
