Authentic and beautiful Korean dishes

Kompas.com have the opportunity to try a set menu containing seven special dishes at the Korean Food Festival.

Seo Woong Oh serves every dish directly from appetizer to desserts to guests, Thursday (13/7/2023).

Amuse bouche in the form of processed mushrooms, sweet potato cream, and caviar, became the first dish served in front of me.

This food is eaten in one bite. It tastes slightly savory and has a crunchy texture so you can hear the sound sharp while eating it.

Wol Gwa Chae is the appetizer. This food is made from sliced vegetables and crab meat wrapped in zucchini slices.

It feels very refreshing. It tends to be sour and successfully triggers the stomach to want the next dish.

The soup served as the third course is abalone porridge served with lobster dumplings and sesame oil.

This soft dish is delicious to eat while warm. The aroma of sesame oil is quite strong, the taste of the porridge is slightly sweet.

First course what is presented is very unique. Korean chicken soup is extracted into a soft solid, so it’s not soupy.

It feels unique. The aroma of ginseng still dominates and is slightly savory.

Next, there is a second food in the form of Goldongban or a traditional variant of bibimbap which is popular in Korea.

It’s mini, made from rice, sliced vegetables and soy sauce truffles so it smells great when served.

The chef recommends stirring this food before eating, as is usually done when enjoying bibimbap.

The taste of the rice is sweet, while the soy sauce is slightly salty and combined with the crunchy vegetables is refreshing.

The main food is Mac Juck or beef part short ribs served with soy bean paste and mushrooms.

How to eat it using style ssam Korean style, where you fill the lettuce with meat, then add sauce and mushrooms as a complement, then eat it.

The meat tastes great juicy. The sauce is slightly salty and the mushrooms add a delicious new texture.

I also enjoy sweet desserts that are shaped beautifully like mushrooms. This dish must be eaten quickly so that the ice cream doesn’t melt and you can still feel the sensation of the nitrogen fumes.

It tastes sweet. Very different from all the savory dishes eaten before. Suitable as desserts.
